Health Services

In-home physical therapy, in three months.

A native app that took in-home physical therapy to market in three months.

3 months concept to market

Luna app screens: a guided abdominal plank with a rep timer, a pain rating scale from 0 to 10, and a tree that grows when a session is completed.

The problem

Outpatient physical therapy loses people at both ends. Luna cited more than 50% of therapists suffering work-related pain, and 70% of patients failing to complete their courses of care.

The obstacles were logistical rather than clinical: traffic, waitlists, and waiting rooms. Luna's answer was to bring the therapist to the patient, which only works if scheduling, records, and payment all happen on a phone.

What we built

A native mobile app serving both patients and therapists, with electronic health record integration, practice management, real-time chat, a five-star review system, custom availability management, and GPS tracking.

The product is the business. As co-founder Ryan Gaffney put it, "Our entire product IS the mobile experience for our users."

What happened

  • Launched to market in three months, meeting an aggressive timeline
  • Serves thousands of therapists and tens of thousands of patients
  • Early market entry established brand recognition ahead of competitors
  • Indigo Design Award recognition for the mobile MedTech app
